First let me say this place was absolutely packed when we arrived. The atmosphere both inside and out was very cutesy and quaint. If I didn't know there was a Thai restaurant inside, I never would've guessed it was anything but a traditional pub. Our dinner reservation was at 6 pm and we had to fight thru the shoulder-to-shoulder throng of people to reach the restaurant, but once we did, it was like its own little world. The food was delicious and service was fast.
VERY SMALL AND COZY PLACE. Were there during holidays so it was a no-win situation trying to sit in the pub any time after 3pm (the Xmas lights come on at 430pm in early December) Soooo we ordered food in the Thai restaurant First of all YUM!!!! Food was DELICIOUS Second of all the service was amazingly nice and attentive We got vegetable spring rolls, dumplings, pad Thai and pad khing All were amazing We ordered drinks with our meal at the table and they let us continue to just order drinks after the meal so we didn't have to stand in the now PACKED pub of revelers waiting for the Xmas lights to be lit. Great place to visit inside and out
This is a great place. One of our first stops after we arrived in London. It was a lovely late summer day, and we wandered in, thinking no tables would be available. Wrong. We found a two-top right by the bar. It's heavy on foot traffic but easy enough. The bar is super friendly. We sampled many before we made our way on to our next endeavor. There was no food this time, but others around had what looked like lovely plates of curry dishes. I highly recommend Churchill Arms when in London. Lovely inside and out.
Fantastic Thai experience in the back of The Churchill Arms. Look. Normally I say spicy and at best, it's tepid but be warned, here, hot means HOT! But I loved it! If you're craving Thai food that truly delivers on flavor, this spot is an absolute must-visit. Each dish bursts with authentic, bold flavors--perfectly seasoned and packing just the right amount of heat. The spices aren't just there for show; they're thoughtfully balanced to complement the fresh ingredients, creating layers of taste that make every bite delicious. If you love Thai cuisine with a punch of spice and true depth of flavor, you won't be disappointed here. Also. The plants!
Thai food in a setting of a pub, it is as amazing as it sounds. I ate here for lunch on whim about a decade ago and have been wanting to come back ever since. I'm so happy we were able to get in and get a table in the bar area without much waiting. I got a good cider from the bar and had a wonderful pad si-ew with chicken. We were really hungry and also ordered some spring rolls and they came out super quick. If you are not from the area, this place is worth a stop because of the ambience as well as the yummy food. I'm going to try to go again before I leave!
A family member recommended this pub as a picturesque spot while visiting Notting Hill/Kensington, and I'm so glad I went. From the Notting Hill Gate tub stop, it's about a 7 minute walk. It's also pretty close to the Kensington Gardens if you'd like to go before or after the pub. When we arrived, it was super crowded. Folks were drinking outside the pub because all tables were taken inside. It didn't take too long for us to order (got a Pimm's Lemonade and a pint of Guinness), and thankfully a table right next to the door opened up after we received our drinks. The Pimm's Lemonade was meh, but the Guinness was great (could def taste the difference between the tap and a can). Next time, I would love to return to try the Thai restaurant in the back!
This has got to be the most beautiful exterior of a pub I have ever seen. It is worth it for you to at least walk by, take a picture, and maybe pop in for a beer of a bite. I knew I had wanted to visit this pub since I saw pictures online ages ago. As I approached and say the gorgeous plants, flags, and signage ... I was not disappointed. The interior is spacious, but it was busy when we visited. There is no host/hostess, so, be prepared that it is on you to procure a table. The staff was nice enough, not overly friendly, but it's a pub, and I didn't necessarily expect 5-star service. There are plenty of drink options (mostly beer). The decor is chaotic and cluttered, but it works, and creates a fun environment. I wish I had time to try some of their Thai food. It smelled amazing as it passed by our table. Some tips: This pub is near the Nottinghill area. So, if you get a chance, check out the colorful buildings and the neat Portobello Market. If it's busy and packed, split up to search for seating. Odds are people all just having a pint or two and will be in and out shortly. The Thai menu looks amazing, but don't come in expecting typical English pub food. Also, the men's restroom had the most pungent urine smell that you could actually smell it harts away in the pub area. So, you might have to hold your breath as you go in. All in all, it was a fun time, and I would definitely go back! Cheers!!
The Churchhill Arms is such a cool concept. You have a traditional English Pub in the front and an authentic Thai restaurant in the back. To no surprise this place was packed in the front and in the back but we lucked out and were able to get the only table available so we were able to sit down for some beers and Thai food. I will say they do take a reservations so for peace of mind I suggest planning ahead. Once seated we checked out the menu and there were so many delicious sounding options so picking what to order we knew would be tough. We started with apps of course. We went with the Dumpling s and the Spring Rolls. We also noticed that their prices were really good too. Some of the best we saw in London. The Springs Rolls were very good and came with 6 which was great. My favorite of the 2 were the Dumplings though. I was thinking the dumplings would be more like gyoza but these were more like Shumai which I prefer. For my entrée I had to go with the Pad Kee-Mao which we Americans know it as Drunkin Noodles. For 12 quid you get the option of Beef, Pork, Chicken, Prawn, or Veg. You're not going to be that in London. The Pad Kee-Mao was amazing. Good spice without it being over powering. Plenty of flavorful saucy noodles with lots of tender beef. I also good to try the Panang Curry and The Pad Thai which were also great. The Churchhill Arms is for sure an amazing place to stop for a pint and some great Thai food.
